Spider-Man 2

Unbelievable. I mean it. Every review you’d read (and I’m yet to find anything but raves in any of them) is true. I mean it. There should be a Oscar category for action films becasue of this movie.

It’s dark, angry, and tourtured – and utterly beautiful/stunning/awe inspiring. I loved the first one, and I did not think it was possible to improve it. Boy howdy, did they ever do it.

The graphics are not to be believed, I had a real hard time telling live action from animation. It’s that good. Action is faster than imaginable, so much so that they should give out Dramamine at the door. (I hear it’s going to be showing on IMAX screens soon, so I WOULD take dramamine for that!)

Tobey was amazing, offering a performance to be remembered for but the real star this time was Doc Oc, played by Alfred Molina. If I had to say who would get a oscar from me out of this cast, It’d be him. A bad guy you can’t quite bring yourself to hate.

This movie was so good, the theatre I saw it in tonight APPLAUDED when it was over. Not just a few, a wide round of applause in a nearly full house. I haven’t heard that since LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring, and before that not at all. It’s that level of brillance.

And I think LOTR’s big win at the oscars will hoepfully pay off for SM2 this year. This deserves a couple, and not just for tech and effects awards. Real awards for direction and acting.

As I walked out of the theatre, I’m telling someone in the lobby “If it was THAT good here, what the hell is in store for the DVD?” She laughed and said she wondered the same thing. I wish I could buy it right now. Afterwards eating dinner we’d pause and go ‘Woah, that was so good.’

We’re seeing it on Friday again – you betcha. That right there is a singing praise right there.

  1. I made a last minute decision last night to catch a late show; just couldn’t wait until the weekend. I’m *so* glad I did.

You’re right, Jen, this was a fantastic movie, surpassing the first one (which I thought was pretty damn good) by miles. I loved Alfred Molina as Doc Ock, the perfect choice for that role. Not to mention he was just a bad ass with those tentacles. lol

The only thing that marred the movie for me was the group of yahoo teenagers in the back, who felt the need to comment on just about everything. I definitely want to see it again, hopefully with less dumbasses in the audience.

IMAX, eh? That would be worth the trip, for sure.
